I've been a reader of Lovecraft for decades. The art was *alright*, but nowhere near the likes of masters such as Virgil Finlay. But, that's a very minor point. The worst of it was what some have celebrated as the "fast and loose" usage of his original story. Frankly, it's PC, whitewashed, sparse, and thoroughly unrecognisable to the original. Back in the 90s, a far superior product was produced, staying as close as possible to the original. Is that too much to ask these days? I bought this for a friend who reads mainly comics, and wanted to introduce her to Lovecraft. **This** was not it.
